Important Notice: Local 846 Nominations and Elections for the D141 Convention

Attention members of Local 846! In accordance with the IAMAW Constitution and District 141 bylaws, we are officially opening the process to elect two delegates to represent our Local at the upcoming District 141 Convention. This is a vital opportunity to ensure our voices are heard at the district level, and we encourage all members in good standing to participate in the nomination and voting process.

Nominations Meeting

The formal nomination period will take place during our regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, April 28, 2026. The meeting will be held from 2:30 PM to 3:30 PM at the IAM District 4 building located at 1120 Benfield Blvd, Millersville, MD 21108. To be eligible for a delegate position, nominees must have been members of the Local for at least one year and remain free from any financial delinquency to the Local, District, or International union. While we welcome nominations in person during the meeting, members unable to attend may submit a written nomination to Recording Secretary Shawn Apffel, provided it is received by the close of the meeting on April 28.

Election Day Details

Should the nominations result in a contested race, the election will be held on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at the same Millersville location. To ensure every member has a chance to cast their ballot regardless of their work schedule, the polls will be open for two sessions: 7:00 AM – 9:00 AM and 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM. Only members in good standing of Local 846 within District 141 are permitted to vote. In the event of a tie or the need for a run-off, a follow-up election will be scheduled for Tuesday, June 30, 2026, with the same polling hours. The candidates receiving the highest number of votes will be declared the winners and will move on to attend the Convention.

Absentee Balloting

We want to ensure every eligible voter can participate. If you are entitled to an absentee ballot, you must submit a written request to Recording Secretary Shawn Apffel no later than April 26, 2026 (30 days prior to the election). You can submit your request via email to recordingsecretary@iam846.org, by mail to P.O. Box 264, Linthicum, MD 21090, or by hand-delivering it directly to the Recording Secretary. Your engagement is what keeps our union strong—we look forward to seeing you at the April meeting!
